PRESENTATION
Its proximity, its inexpensive cost of living, mild oceanic mediterranean climate and the fact that it constitutes a foretaste of the East have earned Morocco its first place among "exotic" countries as the prefered destination of surfers from the Old continent. When they think of Morocco, they first imagine themselves loading their Volkswagen van when the first November chills are here, then drive all the way through Spain, up to the Andalusia orange groves, to cross the straight of Gibraltar and discover a new continent : Africa. Hundreds of miles of coastline facing North West and the Atlantic Ocean and also facing the swell of the trough which, in winter, goes lower and lower in the hemisphere.
You will have a complete picture when you realize that this country is endowed with a great geological variety along the coasline, with bays, capes and beaches, all bathed in water that never goes below 18°C even in the coldest winter days. Now you understand why Morocco is said to be the "Baja California" of Europe that the surfers, who are badly in need of summer and adventure, are so much in love with. TURQUOISE SURF TRAVEL has provided for all those adventure-loving surfers who do not own a Volkswagen van but still long to discover this fabulous country …
In the Agadir area, just a few strides from the dromedaries of Taghazout and the famous right of Pointe des Ancres, you will find accommodation in a house facing the ocean with an open outlook over the Pointe up to "Banana" (some 10 km of coastline). Your hosts, Phillip and Mamie Salerno, will wait on you hand and foot, very much in the Morocco tradition.
Other waves to be found a little farther on including "La Boulloire" and the Insaouan Bay are worth the detour. You can rent a car to go and discover these sites.
In addition to the above-mentioned spots, you will be able to surf the Source, Mystery, the Devil's Rock Left and, of course, the magnificent Killer Point Right, all these spots being located within a 5 km radius.
For those who might be interested, surfing training courses are organized and supervised by qualified instructors. You will also have the opportunity to go on excursion riding a mountain bike or a horse. You can take a ride on a quad or sail a catamaran or else drive a 4-wheel drive truck.
