PRESENTATION

Around the world, surfing breaks are becoming increasingly over crowded. Nagigia Island enjoys an Exclusive Surfing Agreement that prevents the overcrowding of our most popular surfing breaks.

A personal holiday for just you and your friends in total privacy. All day on take-off you can yell "Our Wave". Minimum number is only 16 adults.

Nagigia Island is situated at Cape Washington on a 33.75 acre (13.68 ha) private island and is about 1 km off the South West tip of Kadavu Island, located on only 45 minutes flying time from Nadi International Airport, Fiji. Its position is virtually due south of Suva, the capital of Fiji.

Half of Nagigia Island is on the edge of a 6,000 ft deep water trench completely exposed to Southern Ocean swells and is the beginning of the Great Astrolab Reef, famous worldwide for diving and deep sea fishing of the highest quality. The other half of the Nagigia Island foreshore borders a gorgeous aqua blue lagoon.

Fiji has a multicultural population of 900,000. English being the official language. The climate is tropical and oceanic with sea breezes making for excellent conditions. Water temperature is ideal for surfing. Water temperature varies from 24-29°C (78-84°F). Most surfers wear a rash guard for sun protection and wind chill factor.

South-east Trade Winds prevail ; day temperatures range from 20-30°C (70-85°F) and humidity is high (65-75%). The rainy season is January to March throughout the country, but Nagigia Island has minimal rain with annual rainfall less than 1,700mm. On average, some parts of the Fiji island group have some effect from a hurricane every other year.

Local time is GMT plus 12 hours.

Culture - Meke Entertainment

The local village of Nabukelevu-ira has several cultural groups and they regularly entertain the guests.
Nabukelevu-ira is one of the most unspoilt and isolated villages in Fiji and the singing and dancing of the young people is beautiful.

The evening starts with the Welcome Kava Ceremony where guests can see how the Kava root is processed into being ready to drink.
The singing is often in harmony - up to 6 parts - all learnt by ear. There is even a song about Nagigia Island and the lovely white Senigigia flower which grows only on Nagigia Island. The local warriors are in costume to make some fearsome challenges and dancing entertainment. Normally the Meke is followed by a Kava party and dancing with the guests.
