PRESENTATION
The Zicatela beachbreak often closes out letting pass only a few perfect tubes, except in good days. Needless to say that up to two or three meters, it is a real battle to get the best tube. There is usually one tube for three close-outs. A trained eye can guess what is going to come out as a foul back-wash from what will turn out to be a perfectly manageable cylinder.
Over 2,50 m the spot really becomes elitist. In any case, there seldom is less than one meter. Anyway, it is wise to go and warm up on other spots before tacking the Mexican Pipeline. One can also head for the South point, two kilometres farther down, which is a beautiful left with a very hollow inside. The winds are manageable as they are mostly offshore both in the morning and in the evening and the trade-winds allow you to enjoy a cool atmosphere lying in your hammock.

Caballero Del Mar
Primal Sky- Caballero Del Mar
This is a great album from Tim Smith that I’d like to turn you on to. It’s called Caballero Del Mar by the band Primal Sky. There’s a lot going on in this mix of Surf, Latin, Jazz, Acid , Mancini, Morricone Music.
The music just keeps on getting up, it never gets repetitive there’s do much going on, constantly evolving.
Tim Smith wrote and produced almost all of the tunes and he plays guitar on them as well, all the musicians are top notch, there’s a kick ass violin solo on Eres Hermosa, like I said you just don’t know what is going to turn up next! There’s a heavy surf connection to this album.
I guess they are all beach living surfers that can jam, it comes across especially on Hijo Del Mar a kind of Caribbean Herb Alpert Groove. And Flamenco Beach rocks out like a Spaghetti Western soundtrack, hipped up and narrated by a demented Matador. Check it out.
This is a great album, get your hands on a copy, apply liberally to your ears, you won’t regret it
